Legacy of the Horizon

QA Lead

Full-Time  |  Remote (US)  |  Equity + Salary Upon Revenue

The Role

You own the quality of the entire LoTH platform. Every feature in the spec — from character creation to faction turns to starship refits to economy transactions to campaign forking — passes through your process before it reaches a table. You build the testing frameworks, define the quality bar, and ensure that a Galaxy Master never loses a campaign to a bug.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement the QA strategy for the LoTH platform across all feature systems
  • Build test frameworks for real-time multiplayer state — sync, conflict resolution, edge cases in concurrent modification
  • Test the deterministic faction engine — verify that identical inputs always produce identical outputs
  • Validate economy transactions end-to-end — wallet debits, inventory updates, capacity checks, ledger entries, timeline logging
  • Test campaign lifecycle — creation, join flows, approval queues, snapshot/branch/fork, export, deletion, slot recovery
  • Build regression suites for cross-feature interactions — modules that write to faction state that affects economy that affects starship refit availability
  • Coordinate with engineering and design on bug triage and release readiness

Requirements

  • 5+ years in QA for complex, stateful web applications or games
  • Real-time multiplayer testing. Sync bugs, race conditions, state corruption
  • Automation skills. You write automated tests and build testing infrastructure, not just file tickets
  • Game systems testing. Economy, inventory, progression, simulation
  • You've caught a bug that would have been catastrophic in production and you can tell us the story

Compensation

All positions include equity in Kuykendall Industries. Salaries are TBD and will be determined based on role scope, experience, and what you bring to the table — literally and figuratively.

The Builder Clause

We don't care where you went to school. We don't care if you went to school. Our founder is self-taught, started coding at 13, and built a 602,000-line cognitive architecture and a 420,000-word universe without a CS degree or a creative writing MFA.

Meet the qualifications, or show us what you've built. Either path works. Both paths demand excellence.
