Legacy of the Horizon

Audio Designer

Full-Time  |  Remote (US)  |  Equity + Salary Upon Revenue

The Role

Region ambience loops. Narration triggers. Dice sounds. Background music for the galaxy map. Scene transitions. Audio ducking when narration plays over ambience. A global mute that actually works everywhere. You design the sonic layer of a universe — subtle, atmospheric, and never in the way.

What You'll Do

  • Design and produce region-specific ambient soundscapes for the galaxy map
  • Create audio assets for dice rolls, UI interactions, scene transitions, and module cues
  • Develop the background music layer for the galaxy canvas
  • Design the audio ducking and priority system — narration over ambience, mute-all compliance, scene-aware mixing
  • Establish loudness standards and tonal guidelines for all audio in the platform
  • Collaborate with narrative and module teams on narration timing and audio cue placement

Requirements

  • 3+ years in audio design for games, interactive media, or immersive experiences
  • Ambient soundscape experience. Adaptive audio systems for real-time applications
  • DAW proficiency. Audio production tools, middleware, spatial audio
  • Looping and mixing. Crossfading and dynamic mixing for real-time applications
  • You've designed audio that people didn't consciously notice but absolutely felt

Compensation

All positions include equity in Kuykendall Industries. Salaries are TBD and will be determined based on role scope, experience, and what you bring to the table — literally and figuratively.

The Builder Clause

We don't care where you went to school. We don't care if you went to school. Our founder is self-taught, started coding at 13, and built a 602,000-line cognitive architecture and a 420,000-word universe without a CS degree or a creative writing MFA.

Meet the qualifications, or show us what you've built. Either path works. Both paths demand excellence.
