Legacy of the Horizon

AI / LLM Integration Engineer

Full-Time  |  Remote (US)  |  Equity + Salary Upon Revenue

The Role

LoTH uses AI in targeted, curated ways — character generation, NPC generation, rule lookup with citations, session recap generation, and optional idea sparks for GMs. These are not open-ended chatbots. They are constrained, lore-coherent tools that produce structured output the GM can edit or discard. You build the integration layer that makes AI feel like a natural part of the table, not a parlor trick.

What You'll Do

  • Build the AI character generator — lore-coherent, species-aware, fully editable output
  • Implement the NPC generator — species, role, tone, hooks, immediately editable and saveable to library
  • Develop the rule lookup system — LLM-powered answers grounded in the rulebook with exact citations and Document Hub links
  • Build the session recap auto-generator — clean summaries from timeline events, accepted turns, and notable moments
  • Implement the LLM idea spark for faction turns — encounter and event seeds the GM curates or discards
  • Ensure all AI outputs respect the 420,000-word canon and produce structured, editable results

Requirements

  • 3+ years working with LLM integration in production applications
  • RAG experience. Retrieval-augmented generation, structured output, and citation grounding
  • Prompt engineering for constrained, domain-specific outputs
  • Tool-oriented AI. You build AI features that feel like tools, not toys
  • You've shipped an AI feature where the user trusted the output enough to act on it without checking

Compensation

All positions include equity in Kuykendall Industries. Salaries are TBD and will be determined based on role scope, experience, and what you bring to the table — literally and figuratively.

The Builder Clause

We don't care where you went to school. We don't care if you went to school. Our founder is self-taught, started coding at 13, and built a 602,000-line cognitive architecture and a 420,000-word universe without a CS degree or a creative writing MFA.

Meet the qualifications, or show us what you've built. Either path works. Both paths demand excellence.
