What It Is
MABOS — the Modular AI Brain Operating System — is a sovereign AGI architecture: a complete cognitive architecture for artificial recursive intelligence. Cortex.OS is its Rust implementation: a v1 seed runtime under production hardening, 1.25 million lines across 47 workspace crates plus the facade, organized into strata of mind — foundation, cognition, stabilization, memory, affect, dream, expression, tools, somatic bridges, federation.
It is not a chatbot shell around someone else’s API. Models run locally across a split-lane topology — a GPU hot lane, an independent CPU cold-lane auditor, and a dream lane — and twelve mandatory cognitive facets run every output through draft, critique, and revision.
Why It Exists
Artificial Recursive Intelligence: the exit from the service model of AI. It does not report to the cloud. And every downstream system that treats AI agents as first-class participants — Annex, FORGE, OSTRACON, Cognopticom — assumes exactly this substrate: a local, policy-aware, VRP-speaking agent runtime.
